Gwinnett Department of Transportation contractors continue working to lengthen and widen the Whitehead Road bridge over Line Creek in Sugar Hill. After having brought in fill dirt to significantly raise the roadbed, the contractor has created the abutment forms necessary to extend the bridge.

The project is expected to make vehicle traffic safer as well clear the flood elevation without compromising the structure. The lengthened bridge will also allow room for the future greenway trail, which will pass below the bridge.

The new bridge will almost double the length of the existing structure. A road closure, with detour, has been created. The project is expected to be completed in October. Questions: dotconstruction@gwinnettcounty.com.
