The Henry County Board of Education approved at its Sept. 18 meeting a $22,296,000 bid for construction of the new McDonough Middle School. The bid was submitted by Bowen & Watson Inc. of Toccoa.

The new facility will be built simultaneously with a new McDonough High School at the corner of Hwy. 155 and Postmaster Drive, replacing the current Henry County Middle and Henry County High schools. A bid for construction of the high school was approved earlier this year. Both new schools are slated to open in the fall of 2019. Funding for construction of both schools comes from the county’s E-SPLOST.
