U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson recently presented a DeKalb County man the Purple Heart medal for injuries he received during the Vietnam conflict.

Staff Sgt. Clarence Bostwick was wounded in Vietnam in 1968, but due to confusion about his records, the Army did not recognize his injuries until 2012.

Bostwick, who was discharged in 1970 and retired from the Army Reserves in 1994, also received the Good Conduct medal, a Meritorious Unit commendation and a Vietnam service medal.

Johnson presented the medals during a recent ceremony at the Lou Walker Senior Center near Lithonia.
