The Henry County Zoning Advisory Board voted at its Nov. 14 regular meeting to approve a conditional use for an 11.7-acre site at the southwest corner of Mount Carmel Road and South Mount Carmel Road, allowing for the development of an assisted living facility.

A total of 199 units are proposed for the site in what would be a mix of independent living, assisted living and memory care. A representative of the developer showed a concept plan with multiple interconnected buildings amid open spaces in what he said was a style similar to upscale apartments or a resort. A condition of the board’s approval was the stipulation that the site cannot be used for a drug treatment or rehab facility.
