The Henry County Zoning Advisory Board voted at its May 9 regular meeting to approve a conditional use request for a 1.2-acre site at 1634 Hwy. 42 South, between McDonough and Locust Grove, for an amusement, sports and recreation facility.

The principal use for the property will be batting cages with a smaller portion designated for associated retail, according to county staff. The applicant stated that he wants to provide a place for young people and families to utilize baseball and softball facilities like this in Henry County as well as a place to purchase some of their equipment without having to drive to the north side of Atlanta or some other long distance.
