Commuters, sports fans to combine for busy rush hour
Afternoon traffic -- not a pretty thing in the best of times -- should be even worse Tuesday as commuters head out of downtown Atlanta just as thousands of sports fans make their way to Turner Field and Philips Arena for Braves and Hawks games.
The Hawks play the Milwaukee Bucks at 7 p.m. at Philips Arena in Game 2 of the first round of the NBA playoffs.
Meanwhile, at 7:10 p.m., the Braves open a three-game series at Turner Field against the defending National League champion Philadelphia Phillies. Attendance for both games could approach 60,000.
While rain won't affect the basketball game, the Braves and Phillies might have to dodge a few showers. The chance of rain, pegged at 60 to 70 percent during the afternoon hours, drops to 30 to 50 percent around game time.
