Commission appoints Cooney to elections board

Feb 7, 2013

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners Wednesday appointed Mary Carole Cooney as chair of the Board of Registrations and Elections.

Cooney is a former deputy city attorney for the City of Atlanta and is currently secretary of the Atlanta-Fulton County Chapter of the League of Women Voters.

The elections board is dealing with the fallout from the November election, when poll workers couldn’t find many voters’ names on registration rolls. The Secretary of State’s office received 111 complaints about Fulton in the wake of the election.
