The Sip and Swine BBQ Festival is about to kick off for its second year, with amateur and professional pitmasters vying for the title of Grand Champion.

The festival is a benefit for Home of Hope at Gwinnett Children’s Shelter. Although admission is free, judging tickets, which include nine samples of barbecue, are $10. Last year’s festival raised more than $60,000 for the shelter.

One hundred barbecue teams, including home cooks and professional chefs, will be putting forth their best pork, beef and chicken, hoping to earn your vote. There will also be live music and more than 50 food and craft vendors.

The festival is held at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, home of the Gwinnett Braves, with overflow space at North Metro Church. Gates are open from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, March 3; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday,  March 4.
