College Park seeks bridge upgrades

With the construction of a commercial development underway, the City of College Park wants to prepare the bridge to handle more traffic. Google Earth.

Officials with the city of College Park have met with the Georgia Department of Transportation about upgrades regarding the bridge that pedestrians and vehicles use near the 2900 block of Camp Creek Parkway.

With the construction of the commercial development WallyPark underway at the intersection of Camp Creek Parkway and Herschel Road, the city is seeking upgrades to the bridge to prepare for the possibility of additional traffic. A construction date has not yet been set.

In other recently-announced news, College Park said it has strategies to market its designated Tax Allocation District which is a means of financing capital improvements. The city plans to focus on establishing multiple family housing, hospitality, entertainment and more retail outlets near the city’s downtown.

In addition, College Park’s groundbreaking for fire station number three, to be located near the intersection of West Fayetteville and Southhampton Roads, is scheduled for February.
