College Park has launched an electric charging station on Harvard Avenue in front of the College Park Power building.

There are several types of electric automobiles able to be charged at the city’s station. Battery electric vehicles have no gasoline engine and run exclusively on the energy stored in on-board batteries. Its range usually extends to approximately 100 miles on a full charge.

A plug-in hybrid vehicle runs on electricity and gasoline. These cars utilize onboard batteries able to be charged, and they use gasoline as well. The hybrid utilization is considered “cooperative.” There are also extended range vehicles, which run on battery power first, then switch to gasoline after electricity depletion.
