The Georgia Department of Transportation reconfigured Riverdale Road in College Park due to the contruction of a fifth runway at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. GDOT will upgrade and install new lamp columns and laterns for pedestrian lighting along the new road. GDOT is requesting that once all lighting improvements along Riverdale Road between Interstate 285 and Sullivan Road are complete that College Park take ownership and responsibility for operation, repair and maintainence of the lighting project.
There will be no cost to the city for the installation and upgrades. College Park will be responsible for the power to the lights and the maintenance of the lighting system.
A complete plan will be presented to the mayor and city council during a workshop meeting on Feb. 16.
