The Georgia Environmental Protection Division recently announced its support of College Park’s proposed project, the development of three groundwater wells for additional water supply to the city. The wells were discovered last month. The division conducted a review of the project in accordance with the state environmental review process and determined that the project is eligible for exemption from further environmental review requirements under Georgia law.

The proposed water project consists of construction of water system improvements to the existing water supply system. The existing service area will not change as a result of this project and no new customers will be served by this project. The division determination will become effective after thirty days can be revoked if significant adverse information is made available. The division will make a final decision regarding approval of the project after receiving feedback from College Park citizens.
