The Fayette County Emergency Management Agency is using the Code Red mass notification service to alert residents about a variety of urgent circumstances.

Those who sign up for the service can get phone calls, text messages and/or emails regarding evacuation notices, missing child alerts, bio-terrorism alerts, boil water notices and severe weather warnings.

The service is free but standard text messaging rates apply. Code Red is optimized for Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer 9 and above, and can be received on TDD/TYY devices as well.

The sign-up link is at www.fayettecountyga.gov
