The Cobb County Board of Education voted Thursday to spend $11.1 million for 125 new school buses.

School district officials will use these buses to begin phasing out the older buses in the fleet of 1,171 total buses to bring the average age from 17 to 15 years.

Of the 125, 75 buses will seat 72 each.

The remaining 50 buses will seat 48 special needs students each.

Suppliers will be Bluebird/Yancey and Thomas/Peach State Freightliner with funding from the special purpose local option sales tax.
