Three Powder Springs marching band high school students will be honored for their selection to play at the halftime of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

The game is the all-star football game that pits 90 high school players from the east and west coasts against each other every January in San Antonio's Alamodome for the last 17 years.

As for the band, 125 musicians are selected from the entire nation.

"Band members are chosen not just because they excel musically, but because they are mentally and physically agile, they know the importance of teamwork, and they are able to adapt to challenging situations, similar to U.S. Army Soldiers," according to a news release from an organizer.

The game will be Jan. 7 at 1 p.m.

There will be a ceremony for all three local musicians when they receive an honorary jacket at their high schools.

Details about the Cobb County honoree ceremonies are below:

Jalen Jackson, sousaphone, McEachern High School; Nov. 3 at noon

Jalen Hairston, tenor drum, and Joseph Jourden, sousaphone, both of Hillgrove High School; Nov. 4 at noon
