The Cobb County Board of Commissioners deleted 41 vacant Library Page positions but established seven full-time positions and four part-time positions for the Cobb County Public Library System on Nov. 27.

These positions will use around $340,000 of the $800,000 contingency appropriated within the Fiscal Year 2019 budget for this purpose, according to Cobb Library Director Helen Poyer and Cobb Public Services Agency Director William Tanks in a Nov. 27 memo.

The addition of this personnel will provide greater access to library meeting space, collections and basic and innovative library programs and services and ensure better staffing coverage and security at library locations, they said.

The full impact of this change is estimated to be $337,014 annually.
