The State of the County address was presented by Cobb County Commission Chairman Mike Boyce on Feb. 11, highlighting Cobb’s achievements in 2019 and goals for 2020.

He delivered his address during the Marquee Monday event of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce.

Boyce said the 2019 accomplishments included covering the county’s General Fund shortfall, appropriating $14 million toward needed capital replacement and maintenance, lowering Cobb’s tax anticipation notes borrowing costs by $30 million and maintaining the county’s triple AAA bond rating for both the county and water system.

All of these achievements were achieved while maintaining the lowest taxes in metro Atlanta, according to a county statement.

In 2019, Cobb also welcomed 18 new companies or expansions, representing $325 million in investment.

Some of the goals for 2020 are maintaining the current General Fund millage rate for the 2021 budget and implementing the step-and-grade pay plan for sworn public safety personnel that has been approved by the Board of Commissioners.

Before he delivered that address, Boyce recorded his 12:18-minute speech at youtu.be/aKCtWL4dFRM.
