Free gun safety classes will be offered by Cobb County Sheriff’s Office staff this month and twice more this year.

Each class will begin at 6 p.m. and last about two hours.

  • June 21. Windy Hill Community Center, 1885 Roswell St., Smyrna
  • Sept. 13. Ron Anderson Community Center, 3820 Macedonia Road, Powder Springs
  • Oct. 11. Boots Ward Recreation Center, 4845 Dallas Highway, Powder Springs

During these classes, participants will learn about gun safety and storage, gun types, choosing the right gun, gun ownership/transfer laws, use of force, firearm alternatives, Georgia Weapons License and requirements and active-shooter situations.

There also will be time for questions from class participants with each receiving one free safety gun lock.

With no live-fire training, this class will offer only instruction and familiarization.
