Cobb County police say the recent fatal shooting that shocked a community wasn’t random.

Corey Nelson, 21, allegedly knew Kristopher Dixon, who was found dead in his Austell townhouse Saturday, Cobb police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

Details about the relationship were not released, but police confirmed it was not stranger on stranger.

Dixon, 22, was shot multiple times, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

Neighbors said Dixon was a nice guy and an only son. They never expected to hear he’d be killed in his home.

“He was always like, ‘Hey neighbor! How you doing?’ He was really nice,” Tina Thornton said. “I just feel for his parents.”

Dixon was a tattoo artist with a T-shirt business.

Nelson remains in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond, according to jail records. He faces felony charges of murder and aggravated assault.
