Cobb County now offers a digital story map of the county’s historic sites.
Through CobbCounty.org/gis, the digital tour highlights 61 historic places in Acworth, Austell, Marietta, Kennesaw, Powder Springs, Smyrna and unincorporated areas.
“Cobb County Information Services Department staff has worked diligently over the past year to help convert the driving tour pamphlet into a digital story map,” Cobb GIS Manager Jennifer Lana said.
The digital map may be used on mobile devices, smartphones, tablets and desktop computers, she added.
This in-depth map highlights three tour routes, designated by color, with all originating at the Marietta Welcome Center, 4 Depot St., Marietta.
Each virtual tour stop includes a photo of the site, historic information and hours of operation if the site is open to the public.
