Cobb County commissioners denied requests Tuesday for special land use permits for a cellphone tower and a recycling and garbage transfer station.

The tower request came from T-Mobile South, for the north side of Nichols Road, west of Holland Road and at the southern end of Teague Drive. The recycling and garbage transfer station for S&S Investment Co. would have been on the east side of I-285, south of South Cobb Drive, near Riverview Industrial Drive. The transfer station expected to handle 500 tons of waste per day.

Both applications were denied by a 4-0 vote. The planning commission had previously denied the requests.
