Cobb residents may now park four, instead of three, cars in their driveways if they reside in areas with less residential density.

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 4-1 Tuesday to make this change in the county code with Commissioner JoAnn Birrell opposed.

Still, in areas classified as Planned Residential Development, only two cars are allowed in driveways.

However, residents residing in R-40 and R-80 single-family housing areas may have the four cars, meaning 40,000-square-foot lots for R-40 and 80,000-square-foot lots for R-80.

The county provision still remains at one car allowed per 390 square feet of housing.
