The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted recently to condemn 13 properties for roadway improvements in case negotiations with the property owners are unsuccessful.

Six parcels may be condemned on Cobb Parkway at Georgia Highway 92 for an intersection and seven on Bob Callan Trunk Trail.

Among the intersection improvements will be the addition of a dual left-turn lane on Cobb Parkway northbound to Highway 92 southbound.

Then Highway 92 southbound will be widened to two lanes from Cobb Parkway to Acworth-Dallas Road.

Highway 92 northbound will be widened for an exclusive right-turn lane.

For the trail, all of the $1.18 million right-of-way costs will be paid by a Georgia Department of Transportation grant.

Phase 2 of this trail project was initiated by the Cumberland Community Improvement District to extend the existing network of trails in the Cumberland area.

This part will add a 10-foot-wide trail from Interstate North Parkway to Terrell Mill Road for 2.1 miles.
