An Acworth man was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to slamming a small dog's head on the floor and later beating the animal to death in a fit of rage because she urinated inside his home.

A judge sentenced Sidney Taylor, 23, of Acworth, on animal cruelty charges after he reportedly beat Lilly, a Pomeranian-Chihuahua mix, last April, Channel 2 Action News reported Wednesday.

No charges were filed until a necropsy, also known as an autopsy, was performed on the dog at the University of Georgia, Cobb County police said.

A warrant states that the dog was slammed with such force, it knocked out three of her teeth on April 20.

Then on April 27, Taylor beat the dog, resulting in her death.
