Now visitors to Cobb County amusement parks will be allowed to walk throughout the parks with their alcoholic beverages instead of restricted to certain locations.

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 4-1 on March 27 to ease restrictions on where alcoholic beverages may be carried.

Opposed was Commissioner JoAnn Birrell, expressing concerns about people walking around the children’s areas and the rides with their alcoholic beverages.

In favor were Commission Chairman Mike Boyce and Commissioners Lisa Cupid, Bob Ott and Bob Weatherford.

The policy at Six Flags Over Georgia is that beer, wine and other specialty drinks may be sold at select locations only to guests who are at least 21 with a valid pictured ID.

Then the guest will receive a wristband before purchasing their adult beverage.

For Six Flags White Water, the policy is similar for beer and wine but no mention is made of a wristband.

In the past, guests have been restricted to consuming their alcoholic beverages on the designated patios at each location.

No outside alcoholic drinks are allowed on either property.
