Cobb library holding falconry class Saturday because why not

Obviously, metro Atlanta is into falcons.

But who wouldn’t like to call themselves a falconier? Even the word is amazing. It sounds like “falcon” and “fancier” had a baby word.

On Saturday, you can begin your falconry quest at the Smyrna Library, 100 Village Green Circle SE.

From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., the group Georgia Mountain Falconry will hold a free introductory course.

There will be owls, falcons and hawks.

According to the City of Smyrna, you'll learn species of birds utilized, acquiring birds, how to become a falconer, training your falconry bird, housing your bird of prey and Georgia law regarding falconry.

This class is recommended for children age 10 and older.

Attendees also get to watch seven minutes of “incredible footage of falconry birds pursuing prey.”
