The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 Tuesday to establish educational pay incentives for eligible employees of the Public Safety Department and Sheriff’s Office, beginning Jan. 1.

Quarterly payments will be issued, totaling annual payments of $1,000 for an associate’s degree, $2,000 for a bachelor’s degree and $3,000 for a master’s degree from regionally or nationally accredited schools.

This pay will not be considered as additional income or overtime pay or be subject to retirement or pension plan contributions by the employee.
