The Cobb County Board of Commissioners seeks to increase property taxes by 10.2 percent over the rollback millage rate in the general fund.

Public hearings on this tax increase will be held at 6:30 p.m. July 10 during a special called meeting, 9 a.m. July 11 and 7 p.m. July 25 at the Board of Commissioners meeting room, second floor, 100 Cherokee St., Marietta.

The commissioners are expected to adopt the 2017 property tax millage rates for its five tax districts (General at 6.89, Fire at 2.96, Debt Service or Bond Fund at 0.13, Cumberland Special Services District II at 2.41 and Six Flags Special Service District at 3.5), following the third public hearing at 7 p.m. July 25 when the property tax rate also will be considered for the Cobb County School District.

The continued recovery of the Cobb real estate market is the primary reason for “this modest growth in property values and this corresponding increase in the county’s property tax digest,” according to the county statement.

These hearings will be broadcast live on CobbTV which can streamed online at CobbCounty.org/CobbTV.
