Sitting on your coach in your stretchy pants watching television this Thanksgiving, you'll see local teen musicians marching through the streets of New York.
The marching band of Kennesaw's Harrison High School will play in the 90th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this year, the Cobb County School District announced Thursday.
There are 12 bands chosen nationwide, the school district said. The Hoyas will be the third band to march in the 9 a.m. NBC broadcast.
An estimated 3.5 million people are expected to watch, the school district said.
This is the second time the school has been invited to march in the parade. The first time was 2009.
The band will rehearse at Metlife Stadium. But while the students are there, they will tour the 9/11 Memorial, attend one of three Broadway shows — Matilda the Musical, School of Rock or Wicked — and see the Christmas Spectacular Show at Radio City Music Hall featuring the Rockettes.
And you can join in on the fun.
Give the band a big send-off at the school, 4500 Due West Road NW, on Sunday at 3 p.m. before they board five chartered buses for an overnight trip to New York City.
