Cobb and Douglas Public Health will open a public health center on April 2 to expand access to public health services in the Smyrna area.

The new Smyrna Public Health Center will open at 3001 South Cobb Drive, Smyrna with easier access to the location from public transportation with a CobbLinc bus stop just outside the building.

This new center will offer Women, Infants and Children services.

Beginning May 1, the center also will allow clients to access additional public health services such as family planning, immunizations, child health well checks, sexually transmitted infection (STI) services and “Back to School” screenings.

“We are excited to expand access to quality care by offering more services closer to home for many Smyrna residents,” said Dr. Jack Kennedy, district health director of Cobb and Douglas Public Health.

The renovations for the Smyrna Public Health Center began in April 2017 by general contractor John W. Spratlin and Son Construction, and it was designed by Pieper O’Brien Herr Architects.

The building design and construction were paid with 2016 Cobb County special purpose local option sales tax funds for $2,081,765.
