A Cobb County teenager has died months after being struck by a car.
According to investigators, 18-year-old Darion Elizabeth Hugh-Sam of Marietta and 17-year-old Austin Leake of Decatur were attempting to cross Shallowford Road at Johnson Ferry Road against a red signal last May when they were struck by a Honda Accord traveling westbound.
Both were transported to WellStar Kennestone hospital for treatment.
The Cobb County Medical Exaniner’s office notified police last week that Hugh-Sam had died of her injuries, police spokesman Michael Bowman said Thursday in an e-mailed statement. Leake’s injuries were not life-threatening, Bowman said.
No charges were filed against the driver.
