A student at Pebblebrook High School reported on Monday a classmate “might have a weapon,” a school official said.

A school resource officer and an assistant principal detained the student in question, who was found with a weapon.

Cobb County police arrested the student, whose identity has not been released.

Pebblebrook High School Principal Travis Joshua sent a letter home to parents, but did not say whether or not the weapon was a gun.

“Please know that the safety and security of our students is our number one priority, and we appreciate the responsible actions of students to notify appropriate school personnel,” Joshua wrote. “Students are encouraged to continue taking an active role in keeping our school safe.”
