A Cobb County private school teacher and coach has been charged with aggravated child molestation, authorities said Wednesday.

Robert Carlysle Cartwright Jr., 46, was arrested March 27 at Midway Covenant Christian School, a private Christian school in Powder Springs, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office said.

The investigation began when a male juvenile came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct. The alleged incident for which Cartwright was charged was said to have occurred at the man’s Douglasville residence in November.

Paulding authorities notified Cobb detectives of the alleged incident in case there are any additional cases in that county.

Cartwright was released from the Paulding County Detention Center on Thursday after posting a $55,000 bond, Cpl. Ashley Henson told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

School officials have placed Cartwright on indefinite administrative leave, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Anyone with any information on the case should contact Paulding detectives at 770-445-6105.
