A four-story apartment building on the Chattahoochee River was approved recently by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners.

Attorney John Moore said his client Walton Riverbend wants to build 26 units, with parking underneath, to replace 30 lost in a fire.

The apartment complex is on the southeast side of Akers Mill Road and Powers Ferry Road and west of Riverbend Club Drive.

These units will be built on top of the present tennis courts instead of on the grassy area where the former apartments stood.

Three residents expressed their opposition, concerning stormwater runoff, increased traffic and construction vehicles.

Moore said Walton Riverbend would pay for the traffic signal of $150,000 to $200,000 if the county approves one.
