Marietta police want you to be safe, but they can’t always be there to make sure you are.

So the department is holding women-only self-defense courses throughout the summer.

The RAD, or Rape Aggression Defense, system consists of four three-hour courses at a total cost of $10, according to the department.

Women will learn to be “quick and effective in delivering pain to vulnerable locations of the attack’s body,” police say.

All sessions will be held at the department headquarters, 240 Lemon St.

Participants must complete all courses to graduate, the dates for which are below.

  • June 6, 8, 13 and 15
  • June 26 to 29
  • July 25 and 27 along with Aug. 1 and 3
