The Cobb County Board of Commissioners agreed Tuesday to buy a new incinerator for Animal Control from Bestech Environmental Resources for $194,600.

In February, the current incinerator, purchased and installed in 2002, “suffered significant internal structural damage,” said Cobb Public Safety Director Sam Heaton.

However, Bestech’s addition of a temporary refractory patch is not expected to last more than a few months and severely restricts the unit’s usage.

The incinerator also is used for document and evidence destruction by several public safety agencies, including Cobb, Marietta, Kennesaw, Powder Springs and Acworth Police.
