The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 Tuesday, June 16, to approve a mixed-use development and a single-family subdivision.

MCRT Investments LLC, including River Oaks Associates, Cumberland Center Associates, Cumberland Stillhouse and CCI Associates as the owners, requested the rezoning for the mixed-use development on the north side of Cumberland Boulevard and east of Akers Mill Road.

Attorney John Moore for the applicants said the building will be a maximum of eight stories with 300 condominiums, with an average monthly rent of $1,950, and 10,000 square feet of retail space.

The development also will have an underground parking garage and a lake with a boardwalk and picnic area.

Rezoning also was granted to Matthew W. Hadaway, owner of Venture Homes, Inc., for a single-family subdivision at 5405 Hadaway Road east of Mars Hill Road.

Residences will have side-entry garages and a minimum of 3,000 square feet “not just added to the basement,” Hadaway said.

Also, seven acres will be a greenspace with a trail and an open pavilion.
