A Brunswick woman died in the hospital a month after she was bitten by a rattlesnake at a friend’s house.

Priscilla Meridith, 62, had been in a medically induced coma since the May 17 bite, WJAX-TV reported.

According to the news station, Meridith was gardening with her sister at a friend’s house in Waverly, Ga., when she was bitten by a venomous timber rattlesnake.

She suffered a heart attack in the emergency room, and then her liver and kidneys failed while she was in the hospital, according to a GoFundMe set up to help cover the woman's medical expenses.

Meridith’s family told the news station she was not given anti-venom at the Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick Campus where she was treated.
