CNBC ranks Atlanta 3rd-best for transportation

But Urban Mobility report last month had ATL at third-worst
July 29, 2009

Metro Atlanta drivers can be assured CNBC took traffic congestion into account when it ranked Georgia third-best in the nation for transportation and infrastructure, CNBC reporter Scott Cohn said.

That news comes although the nation’s premier report on congestion, Urban Mobility, this month ranked the Atlanta area third-worst in the country. But CNBC took other factors into account, Cohn said. He wouldn’t say exactly what measures he used, but in general, they included things like pavement quality and road safety. Perhaps most significantly, CNBC relied on the amount of freight traffic by land, air and water as a measure of the transportation system’s health, and on the availability of air travel. Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is the nation’s busiest, and Georgia is a freight center.
