Before it closes for good, the Macy’s located at The Gallery at South DeKalb has begun its final clearance sale.

“Everything must be sold!” the company stated in online advertisements for the closing sale.

Macy's announced earlier this month that it was shuttering its South DeKalb mall location this spring amid a wave of nationwide store closures. Macy's, formerly Rich's, has been an anchor tenant at the shopping center since the mall opened in 1968.

The company has not yet set a specific closing date for the store, Macy’s spokeswoman Lauren Vocelle said Wednesday. The clearance sale, she said, is set to run for eight to 12 weeks.

Online advertisements have been promoting the clearance sale.

The store has advertised that some products are being sold for up to 50% off their original price. Select cosmetics, fragrances and brands are not included in the sale. All purchases are final, and returns of clearance items are not allowed, according to advertisements.

The decision to shut down the store came after “careful consideration,” Vocelle said Jan. 7.

“The decision to close a store is always a difficult business decision,” she said.
