The Clayton County Youth Commission and the Clayton County Police Department are planning a webinar this week to build bridges between youth and law enforcement.

“Chop It Up with a Cop,” which will take place from 2 p.m.-3 p.m. Thursday online, is billed as an opportunity for teens to “get to know your police officers on a different level.

“This is an opportunity to ask questions about the current climate of your county and get answers about the things you care about,” organizers of the event say.

The discussion comes after an incident last month when a Clayton Police officer pulled his gun in an encounter with teens. Law enforcement from cities across the county also held a town hall last month to talk about policing in response to national protests over the death of George Floyd and other Black Americans at the hands of officers.

Children 13-18 are required to register in advance at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_8ewp3X06SHaa-5EUZQbGPg
