Clayton County added another 4,500 residents between August 2018 and August 2019, according to the Atlanta Regional Commission.

The south metro community has a total population of around 283,900 citizens and has grown by more than 24,000 since 2010. The county added 4,700 residents the year prior.

“The Atlanta region’s growth remains strong, driven by our diverse economy and great quality of life,” Doug Hooker, executive director of the ARC, said in a statement.

"But to ensure our region's future success, we must continue to invest in our region's infrastructure and tackle key issues like housing affordability and equity," he said.
