The city of Tucker will soon take over operations of the Tucker Recreation Center. At the November City Council meeting, members went into executive session where they decided that the city would notify DeKalb County of their intention. The city will begin to run the facility effective Jan. 1.

Tucker Recreation Center offers classes, instruction and activities for all ages in over 35 disciplines including the Arts, Sports & Recreation, and Education as well as special events.

Tucker Recreation Center was originally built in 1954 as Tucker Elementary School. DeKalb County Parks and Recreation purchased the school building and land from the school board and opened the Tucker Rec Center in 1980.
