Decatur City Manager Peggy Merriss said she wasn’t concerned about an overlap between the city’s recently-approved annexation master plan and Together in Atlanta’s plan.

Both maps include the North Parkwood Road area and the four shopping centers at North Decatur Road and Clairmont Avenue, long a part of various Decatur annexation plans.

“We will talk with [TIA] about it,” Merriss said. “But to say we’re having a confrontation over [the overlap] is not appropriate.”

Meantime, during a brief interview with the AJC, State Rep. Mary Margaret Oliver, D-Decatur, said that “If Decatur asks I’ve told them I will help them [sponsor an annexation bill].”

Merriss said she expects the city to make a formal request shortly.

The city passed an annexation resolution two years ago, but failed then to gain a legislative sponsor.
