The office of Municipal Clerk of the city of Atlanta will host an Atlanta City Council District 3 Special Election information briefing session on Wednesday, Jan. 9 fom 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for residents interested in filling the remaining term of the vacant City Council District 3 seat. The session will be held in the City Council Chamber at Atlanta City Hall, 55 Trinity Ave., 2nd floor.

The Atlanta City Council held a special called meeting in November to declare a vacancy in the District 3 seat due to the death of Councilmember Ivory lee Young Jr. Young.

A special election to fill the unexpired term of the District 3 seat will be held on March 19. If necessary, a runoff will be held on April 16. Qualifying to run for the seat will take place Wednesday, Jan. 23 through Friday, Jan. 25 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at City Hall in the Municipal Clerk’s Office. The qualifying fee is $1,809.
