A discussion of a proposed community improvement district in Henry County will continue after the Board of Commissioners voted at its June 18 regular meeting to table the matter.

The proposed area is on both sides of I-75 between Hwy. 42 and Hwy. 155, south of McDonough and north of Locust Grove, and consists mostly of industrial development. A few property owners in the district have not consented to be part of it, according to county staff. Several commissioners commented that there was not enough information on this particular plan and it was unclear whether any tax revenue generated from this district would be sufficient to make reasonable improvements.

Property owners in a CID, by law, are governed by a board and are allowed to engage in government-type improvements, build roads, address stormwater and infrastructure issues, engage in beautification processes and provide services for themselves.
