With each day, the effects of the coronavirus pandemic inflicts more pain in the community. Schools across the state are closed, restaurants and other businesses are shuttered, and countless workers face the reality of layoffs, furloughs, and missed paychecks. Because of the generous support of church partners, The dReam Center Church of Atlanta is rapidly mobilizing to keep meals on the table for seniors, children, and families across the Metro Atlanta area, according to a press release.

The impact of the coronavirus has led to record-breaking unemployment, economic disruption, and food insecurity for more than 1 million Georgians. As a life-sustaining organization, dReam Cares, a division of The dReam Center Church of Atlanta, has put safe and efficient protocols in place to provide 10,000 pounds of food on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.

The food giveaways began on April 25.

“Being concerned about how to feed yourself and your family should be the last thing on your mind when you are concerned about your health and finances. We are here to help,” said Bishop William Murphy, III, lead pastor.

The next food giveaway is 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 11 at The dReam Center Church of Atlanta, 2600 H.F. Shepherd Drive Decatur.
