Mount Vernon Baptist Church, one of two historic churches affected by the new Falcons stadium, has closed on a property at 815 Lynhurst Drive, in Atlanta, according to Rick Arzet, who brokered the deal. The site is the former home of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

Arzet said the deal closed on Monday. He said the church considered buying a new building but opted to buy an existing church and “and remodel it the way they wanted.”

Mount Vernon was torn down to make way for the stadium after the congregation voted to approved a $14.5 million agreement to leave the building. It  had been a fixture at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. and Northside drives for 53 years.

Arzet, of the Arzet Church Marketing Team/Berkshire Hathaway HS/Georgia Properties, Commercial Division Atlanta represented the sellers and Porter Sanford IV with Sanford Properties represented the buyer.
