Approval was given recently by the Marietta City Council for a Chick-fil-A near the Marietta Square.

The Herb Shop by the Square will be demolished to make way for the restaurant on Mill Street at Denmead Street that is owned by Marietta Councilman Philip Goldstein.

However, Goldstein did not vote on this matter and the rest of the council members approved the request.

Goldstein and Chick-fil-A officials assured the council members that The Herb Shop will not be demolished until Chick-fil-A is ready to build.

Both the entrance and exit will be on Denmead Street.

The design will complement the historic features of the area with a dual-approach, single pick-up drive-through with an awning, indoor seating for 135 and a large outdoor covered seating area.

Due to the train traffic, employees can go outside to take orders and bring food to the guests.
