The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has proposed adding nine roads to the list of thoroughfares where large through truck traffic is restricted.

A public hearing is scheduled for Feb. 5, the date of the next commissioners’ meeting, on adding these streets to the county list of roads, bridges and/or culverts where large truck traffic is restricted: Hightower Trail; Ragsdale, Mountain, Water Tank, Franklin Goldmine, Drew and Midway roads; and Bates and Jesse McCollum drives.

According to county ordinance, large truck traffic would be prohibited unless their trips originate or end on these roads, or they’re making deliveries on the roads. “No Thru Trucks” signs would be posted at each end of the roads and also, at the commissioners’ discretion, at intersections with other roads.
